New Buffalo Robotics is a program where team members build a robot to compete against other robots in Southwest Michigan. We build, design, and program it to perform specific tasks. In the FIRST Annual Robotics Competition, we compete in a game called Recycle Rush where the primary objective is to stack containers and deposit "trash" into recycling bins. We are designing a robot with a forklift to preform these tasks.
There are two main tasks we have to perform to make a robot: building it and programming it. We have a $4,000 budget to build the robot, as well as to buy any materials we may need to build it. We are programming the robot to have very basic "instincts", such as moving out of the way of obstacles, and to be controlled via remote control.
